"dancing around the golden calf" 2026 PLA (bio-based plastic),electroplated with copper, patinated/ Click here to buy

When Moses received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, Aaron, at the urging of the people, fashioned a calf out of gold ornaments, as they desired a visible god. The Israelites celebrated, danced, and worshipped the golden calf. Enraged by this idolatry, Moses smashed the stone tablets of the commandments, destroyed the calf, and rebuked the people. The sculpture is organically shaped and has a rough, textured surface reminiscent of coral or weathered metal. The dominant color is a deep turquoise green, interspersed with traces of bronze or gold paint, which are more pronounced in some places, giving the sculpture a shimmering sheen. Reddish and brown patina is also visible on the lower parts of the sculpture, reinforcing the impression of age and weathering. The surface texture is irregular, with fine longitudinal grooves and some raised, almost blister-like areas. The work resembles stylized human figures intertwined or embracing one another. A kind of head-like structure is suggested at the top, and wider, tapering bodies culminate in a broader base. Within the sculpture's body are several irregularly shaped openings or gaps, creating an impression of lightness and transparency. The sculpture is slightly rotated, resulting in a subtle sense of depth. The light casts a soft shadow on the surface, beneath which the sculpture, with its shimmering sheen, creates a tranquil yet vibrant atmosphere. The mood is rather calm and meditative, but the interesting forms and materiality of the sculptures stimulate the imagination, highlighting the details and aesthetics of the artwork.
